The next stages of our partnership with Charvet Digital Media will help significantly improve the content of the mobility messages through Open Data, such as live information about how many Vélo’V bikes are available at the closest station, or waiting time at the tram stop a short distance away. It will also provide a personalised service through direct interaction between the iGirouette® devices and a person using the iGirouette® phone app.
Lyon city center: a test site for iGirouette® and Smart City uses.
The story began in July with an experiment in partnership with Métropole Grand Lyon. Two initial devices were installed at the Pôle de Commerces et Loisirs and in front of the Ice Rink…and from two came many! There are now 15 iGirouette® installed throughout the Lyon’s Confluence district.

The iGirouette® solution
The idea behind this experiment was to test and measure user-appetite for this kind of device for finding their route and information on their immediate environment. The iGirouettes® were set up to create a guided path in the Confluence district. The messages were produced by different city stakeholders: MJC, Marché Gare, Conseil de Quartier, Périscope, Musée des Confluences, Archives Municipales, etc. to give passers-by a wide range of information. As the system includes open data from sources like Vélo’V, visitors are encouraged to get to their destination using soft mobility solutions.
