How to guide audiences around a 2.0 smart sports arena?

The iGirouette solution

The Groupama Stadium, home to the Olympique Lyonnais football team, is installing 12 iGirouettes® around the stadium to guide and direct visitors (to the entrance and to the stands for supporters, to seminar and conferences halls for businesses, and all the other destinations: food, toilets, car parks, public transport, etc.). These signs will improve waiting times and pedestrian flow in and around the stadium.

An installation strategy has been drawn up to ensure that every visitor comes into contact with at least one device as he or she walks around the stadium. The iGirouettes® have therefore been located at key points for foot traffic around the stadium: at the top of the different access ramps and pedestrian entrances, at the VIP entrances and at regular spots around the stadium.

In Spring 2018, the French National Rugby League held the semi-finals of the Top 14 division at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon. We used iGirouettes® to direct spectators and provide information for their stadium visit. The iGirouettes® gave real-time information about the entry gates and helped spectators quickly find their seats. And the messages were adapted before the match in a simple and responsive way, in collaboration with Olympique Lyonnais. After the match, we had to change the information to adapt to people leaving the stadium and the last tram departure time that had changed. Thanks to the scheduling software, it was possible to change the iGirouette® messages in real-time and give spectators the latest information from the area’s public transport system.

Professional rugby clubs are very mindful of the notion of fan experience. They want their supporters to enjoy their trip to the stadium. After all, they are not just coming to watch the match; they want to share a collective experience. All services – access, ticketing, restaurants, visual attractions like iGirouette® – contribute to the success of the event.
